JW Child Abuse Makes 'Private Eye'
by Joe Grundy infollowing on from the recent thread about wt losing an appeal concerning the uk charity commission (sorry, i can't do the link) i'm pleased to report that this matter is covered in the latest 'private eye' (20 march - 2 april issue).. it's a one-third page article (p.34) under the heading 'child abuse' and the headline 'silent witnesses'.
it reports the case accurately, mentions several criminal cases and the ongoing high court compensation case.
it includes some of judge mckenna's comments..

Well done mate. Lots of UK press at the mo.. I'm collecting digitally what I can, I wonder if we could have a sticky thread on this forum with nothing but links, or even fully quoted articles of this sort.. Kind of a one stop shop for media about jw's, chronologically arranged.... Could be handy. -

When do you visit this site to view and post?
by stuckinarut2 inhey all,.
i'm curious about the times and places we all come and check in on this great forum.. is it after a long day at work while having a drink, or during the work day on your mobile tablets, or quickly in-between family evenings etc...?.
do most "hide" their tracks when using the family computer, perhaps using "private browsing"?.

Every morning during breakfast, (honey on toast this morning nomnomnom) and every night before I go to bed, providing the missus isn't looking over my shoulder. And most times on the crapper too. And some lunchtimes.
I may have a problem.

by rathernotsay inhey people, .
i am soon going into a kh for the first time and i could use some advice around etiquette etc.
i know next to nothing besides the fundamental beliefs of jws, i personally dont believe in any religion, and that stance isnt ever going to change, however i don't want to come across as rude or disrespectful.

Having read your last thread, and being unable to offer any advice on that, I'm in the same position again. I'm just glad you're working it out, and I wish you the best of luck mate. -

Anyone else like Radiohead?
by LoveUniHateExams inover the past couple of weeks, i've discovered the 'alternative rock group' radiohead.
of course, i've known of their name for years and years but never, until recently, bothered to check out their music.
i'm also quite a big fan of damon albarn and admire him not only for his substantial musical output but also for the different 'feel' to his songs - oasis, in contrast, seem to have just one beatles-esque style.

Xanthippe - I remember Brent and Jean Smith too, very kind, great detailed talks with lots of humour. Some hated him though, horses for courses I suppose..
Mike Parsons was a great co, miss that dude.

Education, education, education....
by snare&racket inan update on my life post education..... as the governing body continue to denounce higher education, reality continues to prove their words ignorant, ill informed and blatant lies.
i am proud and astonished to say i have just been accepted for a university teaching hospital post.
i have a seriously sought after, senior house officer job in intensive care, endocrinology and clinical pharmacology.

I've got it in Yorkshire in the print edition.
The wife asked if I'd bought it for a particular reason as I don't normally.. I said I'd heard that 'we' were in it.
I hope her curiosity will take over, I'll only get criticised for being negative if I point it out.
But I know that she'll have the same attitude as stated above, 'if they've got minor details wrong, who knows what else they've got wrong'. (if only I could get her to apply that line of thinking to the world of jw!)
